assigned to the 1st Squadron, 73rd Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team,
82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.; died Sept. 10 in Baghdad of injuries sustained in a
non-combat-related vehicle rollover.

August 15, 2007...Army Sgt. Princess C. Samuels, 22, of Mitchellville, Md.;
assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division,
Fort Hood, Texas; died Aug. 15 in Taji, Iraq, when the enemy attacked using indirect fire.

July 19, 2007...Army Pfc. Brandon M. Craig, 25, of Earleville, Md.; assigned to
Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 4th Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade
Combat Team), Fort Lewis, Wash.; died July 19 in Husayniyah, Iraq, of wounds
sustained from an improvised explosive device.

May 24, 2007... Army Sgt. 1st Class Robert E. Dunham, 36, of Baltimore; assigned to
1st Brigade Transition Team, and attached to the 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team,,
1st Infantry Division Fort Riley, Kan.; died May 24 in Baghdad of wounds
sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle.

May 18, 2007...Army Spc. Casey W. Nash, 22, of Baltimore; assigned to the 1st
Battalion, 12th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas;
died May 18 in Tahrir, Iraq, of wounds sustained when his unit
came in contact with enemy forces using an improvised explosive device. .


May 17, 2007...Army Pfc. Jonathan V. Hamm, 20, of Baltimore; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 23rd Infantry
Regiment, 4th Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Lewis, Wash.; died May 17 in Baghdad,
of wounds sustained when his forward operating base received indirect enemy fire.


April 29, 2007...Army Staff Sgt. Jay E. Martin, 29, of Baltimore, Md; assigned to the 3rd Squadron,
61st Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colo.;
died April 29 in Baghdad of wounds sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his unit
during combat operations

April 21, 2007...rmy Staff Sgt. Marlon B. Harper, 34, of Baltimore. Md; assignedto the 1st Battalion,
8th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; died April 21
in Baghdad of wounds sustained when he came in contact with enemy forces using a rocket-propelled
grenade and small-arms fire during combat operations.

April 12, 2007...Army 1st Lt. Gwilym J. Newman, 24, of Waldorf, Md.; assigned to the 2nd Battalion,
8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; died April 12 in
Tarmiyah, Iraq, of wounds sustained from enemy small-arms fire while on dismounted patrol.

April 11, 2007... Army Sgt. Edelman L. Hernandez, 23, of Hyattsville, Md.; assigned to the 1st Battalion,
32nd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry),
Fort Drum, N.Y.; died April 11 in Korengal Valley, Afghanistan, while on combat patrol.
The incident is under investigation.

April 8, 2007...Army 1st Lt. Phillip I. Neel, 27, of Maryland; assigned to the 3rd
Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood,
Texas; died April 8 in Balad, Iraq, of wounds suffered when his unit came in
contact with enemy forces using grenades. His death is under investigation.

February 27, 2007...Army Spc. Jonathan D. Cadavero 24, of Takoma Park, Md.;
assigned to the 2nd Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team,
10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, N.Y.; died Feb. 27
in Baghdad of wounds sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle.

February 18, 2007... Army Chief Warrant Officer 3 John A. Quinlan, 36, of New Jersey
(formally of Timonium MD); assigned to the 2nd Battalion,
160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne),
Fort Campbell, Ky.; died Feb. 18 in southeastern
Afghanistan when the Chinook helicopter he was in crashed.

February 07, 2007... Marine Cpl. Jennifer M. Parcell, 20, of Bel Air,
Md.; assigned to Combat Logistics Regiment 3, 3rd Marine Logistics
Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Okinawa, Japan;
died Feb. 7 while supporting combat operations in Anbar province, Iraq.

November 15, 2006... Army Capt. John R. Dennison, 24, of Ijamsville, Md.; assigned
to the 5th Squadron, 73rd Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division,
Fort Bragg, N.C.; died Nov. 15 as a result of small arms fire in Balad, Iraq.

October 27, 2006... Army Pvt. Michael V. Bailey, 20, of Waldorf, Md.; assigned to the 4th
Battalion, 25th Field Artillery Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division
(Light Infantry), Fort Drum, New York; died Oct. 27 from non-combat related injuries in
Salerno, Afghanistan. This incident is under investigation.

October 21, 2006...Marine Lance Cpl. Eric W. Herzberg, 20, of Severna Park, Md.; assigned to
the 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force,
Camp Lejeune, N.C.; died Oct. 21 while conducting combat operations in Anbar province, Iraq.

October 4, 2006...Army Staff Sgt. Christopher O. Moudry, 31, of Baltimore, Md.; assigned to
the 7th Squadron, 10th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade, 4th Infantry Division,
Fort Hood, Texas; killed Oct. 4 after being attacked by enemy forces using small arms fire and other
weapons in Taji, Iraq. Also killed were: Spc. Timothy R. Burke,
Pfc. Dean R. Bright and Spc. George R. Obourn Jr.

September 20, 2006...Army Pvt. Eric M. Kavanagh , 20, of Glen Burnie, Md.;
assigned to the 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division,
Schweinfurt, Germany; died of injuries sustained Sept. 20 when an improvised
explosive device detonated near his Humvee during combat operations in Baghdad.

Sept. 17, 2006...Army Sgt. David J. Davis, 32, of Mount Airy, Md.; assigned to the 4th Squadron,
14th Cavalry Regiment, 172nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, Fort Wainwright, Alaska;
died Sept.17 in Baghdad of injuries sustained when an improvised explosive device
detonated near his Stryker Armored Vehicle during combat operations in Sadr City, Iraq.

Sept. 16, 2006...Navy Electronics Technician (SW/DV) 2nd Class David S. Roddy,
32, of Aberdeen, Md.; assigned to Explosive Ordnance
Disposal Mobile Unit Two in Norfolk, Va.; served with the
Multi-National Corps in Iraq; killed Sept. 16 while conducting combat
operations against enemy forces in the Anbar province, Iraq.

August 24, 2006...Marine Staff Sgt. Dwayne E. Williams, 28, of Baltimore, Md.;
assigned to the 9th Engineer Support Battalion, 3rd Marine Logistics Group,
III Marine Expeditionary Force, Okinawa, Japan; killed Aug. 24 while
conducting combat operations in Anbar province, Iraq.

August 23, 2006...Army Spc. Thomas J. Barbieri, 24, of Gaithersburg, Md.; assigned to
the 1st Battalion, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division,
Fort Bragg, N.C.; killed Aug. 23 when his patrol encountered enemy forces
small arms fire during combat operations south of Baghdad.

July 27, 2006... Marine Lance Cpl. James W. Higgins, 22, of Frederick, Md.;
assigned to the 1st Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force,
Camp Pendleton, Calif.; died July 27 from wounds received while conducting
combat operations in Anbar province, Iraq

July 26, 2006...Navy Electrician's Mate (Petty Officer) 2nd Class Edward A. Koth, 30,
of Towson, Md.; assigned to the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit Eight, serving with
Multinational Corps Iraq in Baghdad; died July 26 after ordnance exploded
during a disposal operation at Camp Victory, Iraq.

July 22, 2006...Army Staff Sgt. Christopher W. Swanson, 25, of Rose Haven, Md.;
assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 6th Infantry Regiment, 1st Armored Division,
Baumholder, Germany; died July 22 of injuries sustained when his patrol encountered enemy
forces small arms fire in Ramadi, Iraq.

July 21, 2006...Army Cpl. Matthew P. Wallace, 22, of Lexington Park, Md.;
assigned to the 10th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division,
Fort Hood, Texas; died July 21 in the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Landstuhl, Germany,
of injuries sustained July 16 when an improvised explosive device detonated near
his Bradley Fighting Vehicle during combat operations in Baghdad.

June 26, 2006...Army Pfc. Michael J. Potocki, 21, of Baltimore, Md.; assigned to the
1st Battalion, 6th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division,
Baumholder, Germany; died June 26 of injuries sustained when his unit came
in contact with enemy force's small arms fire during combat operations in Asad, Iraq.

June 25, 2006... Army Pfc. Justin R. Davis, 19, of Gaithersburg, Md.;
assigned to the 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division
(Light Infantry), Fort Drum, N.Y.; died June 25 when he came in contact with
indirect fire while on patrol during combat operations in Korengal Outpost, Afghanistan
(near Kunar Province). The circumstances of the soldier's death are under
investigation as a possible friendly-fire incident.

June 21, 2006...Army Staff Sgt. Heathe N. Craig, 28, of Severn, Md.; assigned to the 159th Air
Ambulance Medical Company, Wiesbaden, Germany; died June 21 when his UH-60 helicopter
hoist malfunctioned while attempting to evacuate Pfc. Bradbury during combat
operations in the vicinity of Naray, Afghanistan

May 15, 2006...Army Staff Sgt. Marion Flint Jr., 29, of Baltimore, Md.; assigned to the
1st Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Heavy Brigade Combat Team, Fort Carson, Colo.;
killed May 15 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle
during combat patrol operations in Baghdad.

May 11, 2006...Army Spc. Armer N. Burkart, 26, of Rockville, Md.; assigned to the 1st
Battalion, 71st Cavalry Regiment, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, N.Y.; died May
11 of injuries sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his
Humvee during combat patrol operations in Baghdad.

May 10, 2006...Marine Sgt. Alessandro Carbonaro, 28, of Bethesda, Md.; assigned
to the 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force,
Camp Lejeune, N.C.; died May 10 at the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Germany,
from wounds received May 1 while conducting combat operations against enemy forces in
Anbar province, Iraq.

March 28, 2006...Army Staff Sgt. Robert Hernandez, 47, of Silver Spring, Md.; assigned to
the 3rd Battalion, 318th Regiment, 1st Brigade, 80th Division (Institutional
Training), Army Reserve, Fort Meade, Md.; killed March 28 when an improvised explosive
device detonated near his Humvee during combat operations in Taquaddum, Iraq.

March 11, 2006...Army Pfc. Amy A. Duerksen, 19, of Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md.; assigned
to the 4th Combat Support Battalion, 1st Brigade, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood
, Texas; died March 11 from a non-combat-related injury in Baghdad.

March 3, 2006...Marine Lance Cpl. Matthew A. Snyder, 20, of Finksburg, Md.; assigned to
Combat Service Support Group 1, 1st Marine Logistics Group, I Marine Expeditionary
Force, Twentynine Palms, Calif.; died March 3 from a non-combat-related vehicle
accident in Anbar province, Iraq.

January 14, 2006 ...Marine Cpl. Justin J. Watts, 20, of Crownsville, Md.;
assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division,
I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.;
attached to the 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force,
Camp Lejeune, N.C.; died Jan. 14 of an apparently non-hostile
gunshot wound in Haditha, Iraq.

October 19...Marine Lance Cpl. Norman W. Anderson III, 21, of Parkton, Maryland.
Anderson died from a suicide vehicle-borne improvised explosive
device while conducting combat operations against enemy forces in Karabilah, Iraq.
He was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division,
II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

October 19...Army Spc. Kendall K. Frederick, 21, of Randallstown, Maryland.
Frederick died near Tikrit, Iraq when an improvised
explosive device detonated near his vehicle during convoy operations.
He was assigned to the Army Reserve's 983rd Engineer Battalion, Monclova, Ohio.

October 14... Army Sgt. Brian R. Conner, 36, of Baltimore MD;
assigned to the 243rd Engineer Company,
Maryland Army National Guard, Baltimore; died Oct. 14 when he was
conducting convoy operations and an 18-wheel tractor trailer accidentally struck the
rear of his Humvee, starting a fire and causing ammunition to detonate in Taji, Iraq.

October 14...Army Spc. Bernard L. Ceo, 23, of Baltimore MD;
assigned to the 243rd Engineer Company,
Maryland Army National Guard, Baltimore; died Oct. 14 when he was
conducting convoy operations and an 18-wheel tractor trailer accidentally struck the
rear of his Humvee, starting a fire and causing ammunition to detonate in Taji, Iraq.

September 30, 2005... Marine Cpl. Joshua D. Snyder, 20, of Hampstead, Md.; assigned to
2nd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force
, Camp Lejeune, N.C.; died Nov. 30 of wounds sustained from small-arms fire while
conducting combat operations against enemy forces in Fallujah, Iraq.

September 30, 2005...Army Sgt. 1st Class James J. Stoddard Jr., 29, of Crofton, Md.;
assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, Fort Bragg, N.C.,
died Sept. 30 when his vehicle accidentally rolled over in Afghanistan.

August 26, 2005...Army Staff Sgt. Damion G. Campbell, 23, of Baltimore;
assigned to the 1st Battalion, 508th Infantry Regiment, Vicenza, Italy; died
Aug. 26 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his
Humvee during a combat patrol in Khayr Kot, Afghanistan.

October 14...Army Spc. Samuel M. Boswell, 20, of Elkridge, Md.;
assigned to the 243rd Engineer Company,
Maryland Army National Guard, Baltimore; died Oct. 14 when he was
conducting convoy operations and an 18-wheel tractor trailer accidentally struck the
rear of his Humvee, starting a fire and causing ammunition to detonate in Taji, Iraq.

August 14...Spc. Toccara R. Green, 23, of Rosedale, Maryland died
in Al Asad, Iraq, when multiple improvised explosive devices detonated
near her unit during convoy operations. She was assigned to the
57th Transportation Company, 548th Corps Support Battalion, Fort Drum, New York.


June 11...Sgt. 1st Class Neil A. Prince, 35, of Baltimore, Md., died in
Al Taqaddum, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his military vehicle.
He was assigned to the Army's 2nd Battalion, 17th Field Artillery Regiment,
2nd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colo.

Jan 28, 2005...Lance Cpl. Michael L. Starr Jr., 21, of Baltimore, Md., died
when the CH-53E helicopter he was in crashed near Ar Rutbah, Iraq.
He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division,
III Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Base Hawaii.

Nov 29.... Spc. Erik W. Hayes, 24, of Cascade, Md., died in Al Miqdadiyah,
Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his military vehicle. He was
assigned to 2nd Battalion, 2nd Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division,Vilseck, Germany.

Nov 15 ....Cpl. Nicholas L. Ziolkowski, 22, of Towson, Md., died in Iraq. He was
assigned to 1st Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division,
II Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Nov 14... Cpl. Dale A. Burger Jr., 21, of Port Deposit, Md., died Nov. 14 as result of
enemy action in Al Anbar Province, Iraq. He was assigned to 3rd Battalion,
1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force,
Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif.

Nov 11... Spc. Thomas K. Doerflinger, 20, of Silver Spring, Md., died in Mosul, Iraq,
when his unit received small arms fire while conducting combat operations.
He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 24th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade, 25th
Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team), Fort Lewis, Wash

Oct 29...Sgt. Maurice Keith Fortune, 25, of Forestville, Md., died in Ar Ramadi, Iraq,
when a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device detonated near his military
vehicle. He was assigned to the Army’s 2nd Battalion, 17th Field
Artillery, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, from Camp Hovey, Korea.

Oct 3... Staff Sgt. James L. Pettaway Jr., 37, of Baltimore, Md., died in Brooke Army
Medical Center at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, of injuries sustained in Fallujah,
Iraq, on Aug. 27 when he was involved in a motor vehicle accident. He was
assigned to the Army Reserve’s 223rd Transportation Company, Norristown, Pa.

Aug 8... Air Force Special Agent Rick A. Ulbright, 49, of Waldorf, Md., died from
wounds received during a mortar attack at Kirkuk Air Base, Iraq. Assigned to
the 33rd Field Investigative Squadron, Andrews Air Force Base, Md.

Aug 5... Army Pfc. Raymond J. Faulstich Jr., 24, of Leonardtown, Md. died in Najaf,
Iraq, when his convoy was hit by small arms fire and rocket-propelled
grenades. Assigned to the 89th Transportation Company, 6th Transportation
Battalion, 7th Transportation Group, Fort Eustis, Va.

March 31...Army Pvt. Brandon L. Davis, 20, of Cumberland, Md.Died in
Habbaniyah, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device hit his armored personnel carrier.
Assigned to the Army’s 1st Engineer Battalion, 1st Brigade, 1st Infantry Division,
Fort Riley, Kan.

March 13...Army Spc. Jason C. Ford, 21, of Bowie, Md. Died in Tikrit, Iraq,
when his patrol encountered an improvised explosive device.
Assigned to the 1st Battalion, 18th Infantry Regiment, based in Schweinfurt, Germany.

January 8, 2004....Army Sgt. Jeffrey C. Walker, 33, of Havre de Grace, Md. Killed
when the UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter he was flying in crashed near Fallujah, Iraq.
Assigned to Company C, 782nd Main Support Battalion,
82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.

April 7....Army Spc. George A. Mitchell, 35, of Rawlings, Md. Died of wounds received
from an enemy rocket attack south of Baghdad. Assigned to
Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3rd Infantry Division, 2nd Brigade Combat
Team, Fort Stewart, Ga.

March 20, 2003....Marine Staff Sgt. Kendall Damon Waters-Bey, 29, of Baltimore.
Killed in a CH-46E helicopter crash in Kuwait. Assigned to the Marine Medium Helicopter
Squadron, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Corps Air Station,
Camp Pendleton, Calif. Home
